Hello, my fellow chocolate lover! I’m Erica Tse—the founder of MAÏA CHOCOLATES.
My chocolate-making journey began at Christmas 2023, when my wonderful husband gifted me a chocolate workshop experience in Central London. (Let’s just say he knew what he was getting into—me + chocolate = forever.) From that day on, I found myself completely smitten with the craft. What started as a sweet little hobby quickly spiraled into a full-blown obsession. I began making chocolates and confections for friends and family on every possible occasion—and even a few non-occasions. I also took a series of courses at the Callebaut Chocolate Academy to level up my skills.
At MAÏA, I’m all about fresh, honest ingredients. I keep things simple, clean, and delicious, with a gentle hand on the sugar—just enough to enhance, never overpower, the true essence of chocolate and every ingredient in my confections.
Now, about the name MAÏA—it’s close to my heart in the most personal way. At the end of 2021, I found out I was pregnant and lovingly chose the name Maia for the little girl I thought I was carrying. For five months, that name lived quietly in my heart—until, surprise! It turned out we were having a boy. We welcomed our beautiful son, Jude, instead, and I shelved the name MAÏA with fondness and a touch of wistfulness. So when it came time to name my chocolate business, MAÏA felt like the perfect choice—a little piece of sweetness, love, and memory rolled into one.
